NOVA performed a geotechnical investigation, and is currently providing earthwork observation and testing, special inspection, and materials testing during construction of the $45 million permanent year-round outdoor performance and event venue on Port of San Diego property on 3.5 acres of the Embarcadero Marina Park South. The project will feature an 13,000 SF acoustically engineered stage with a concert shell and back-of-house facilities. Other features include a sloped lawn with temporary/removable seating for appropriately 3,100 people with flexibility to accommodate 10,000 as well as restrooms, a dining and retail pavilion, a widened public promenade around the venue, a visual public art element, and replacement of existing public amenities including benches, basketball courts, exercise equipment, a gazebo, and lighting. Coordination with the San Diego Unified Port District has been essential during the project.
