NOVA Services has performed geotechnical investigations and testing and inspection services for the $200 million Hotel del Coronado master plan, which includes two phases of development. Phase 1 will consist of various new construction, including a two level underground parking structure on the north side, valet parking structure, and a new entry garden. Improvements will including the addition of signalization and improved traffic control at the main entrance, restoration of the facade of the hotel, and restoration of the Grande Hall.
Phase 2 will consist of construction of a conference center with a 15,000 sf ballroom, a new 14,000 sf outdoor space with 142 new guest rooms (“South Beach Development”), and an underground parking structure on the south side. Improvements on Avenida del Sol will include a new signalized intersection and crosswalk to the bay and new angled parking. The existing beachfront walkway will be extended around the cul-de-sac and the existing stairs will be replaced with an access ramp. The paseo will be relocated to help prevent flooding of the area.
